/A PLAN FOR THE FATHER’S HOUSE
We must have a plan this year. God has a plan for His people.
The people of God are called to be the head and not the tail.
Deuteronomy 28:13 King James Version
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
Question: "What does it mean that you are the head and not the tail in Deuteronomy 28:13?"
Answer: Deuteronomy contains Moses’ last address to the people of Israel before his death. In the previous almost 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, all of the adults who came out of Egypt have passed from the scene. Now he is addressing a new generation of Israel, most of whom did not witness the miraculous deliverance from Egypt. Moses recounts all of God’s wondrous works on their behalf and finishes up by telling them of the blessings they can expect if they obey the Lord and the curses they can expect if they disobey. One of the blessings Moses lists is found in Deuteronomy 28:13: “The LORD will make you the head, not the tail.”
Since it is one of the blessings promised to the obedient Israelites, we know that being the head rather than the tail is a good thing. The context gives a fuller series of contrasts: “You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom” (Deuteronomy 28:12–13).
Today, we have a saying about “the tail wagging the dog.” In our culture, this means that something is fundamentally out of balance when an unimportant or insignificant issue is given far too much weight when making a decision. The tail should not be dictating the direction of the dog—the head should do that.
Even in February, God will turn it around, but we must have a plan, it won’t always be like this, God will perfect us concerning His will for our lives.
Psalms 37:23-24 KJV
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. All his course of life is graciously ordained, and in lovingkindness all is fixed, settled, and maintained. No reckless fate, no fickle chance rules us; our every step is the subject of divine decree. He delighteth in his way. As parents are pleased with the tottering footsteps of their babes. All that concerns a saint is interesting to his heavenly Father. God loves to view the holy strivings of a soul pressing forward to the skies. In the trials and the joys of the faithful, Jesus has fellowship with them, and delights to be their sympathizing companion.
Introduction to the beginning of our new series: Now that many of the doom prophets have been proven wrong and the fears related to 2000, 2010, and 2020, doom has begun to fade from our minds, it is a good time for us to begin to look to the future. For years, we were told that we needed a plan for dealing with all those related emergencies. Well, 2,000 has come, the millennium has rolled over and life still goes on! While I don't think there is anything too hard for God in 2021, I do know that we need a plan for dealing with this year here at Shiloh Baptist Church. Therefore, we are going to take some time teach a series around the theme of A Plan for God’s people. The focus of these teaching will be those areas of church life and ministry that I feel we need to concentrate on as we go farther into the new year.
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at the following passages of scripture regarding God’s plan for our life. Please review and be prepared to study in the upcoming weeks.
Heb. 10:22-25 PLAN FOR THE FATHER'S HOUSE
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
