NYE Greeting From Pastor Nick and Virtual Service Reminder - See you at 7PM
/NYE Greeting From Pastor Nick
Greetings Shiloh family, my prayer and desire for the local body for the year 2021 is that God would bless you with joy, strength, hope and excitement to face another year.
Our family here Port Royal is blessed beyond measure, filled with God’s grace and showered in His mercy. We can only stand in awe of our profound gratitude and humble reality of our position in Christ Jesus. You have been my joy and purpose over the last 21 years as God has allowed me the great privilege of being your pastor. Your desire for truth in God’s word has always been an encouragement to me. And your passion for worship towards our Savior is contagious and inspiring.
As we say goodbye to 2020, we realize the losses we have grieved and the victories we have won. We have opened our eyes to the reality of the world and joyfully acknowledge the absolutes of God’s divine plan. In all the world’s confusion, we have never lost faith, shrunk back, or remained stagnant. Throughout the year we have persevered with all diligence and steadfastness. You are God’s chosen people - my peculiar people. I charge you to never give up hope and remain faithful because we trust in an everlasting God who is sovereign in all His ways.
I am geared up and ready to tackle 2021! I will need all of your help so please begin praying about your role in the 2021 year as we serve Christ together.
Again, I want to thank you for your grace and mercy in giving me the privilege and honor to serve as your pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church.
Preparing For Communion at 7pm Tonight
Before participating in communion bear the following in mind:
The Lord's Supper is "a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming." Although communion is a symbolic, it is a deeply meaningful act in the Baptist Church.
To partake, you must confess your faith and accept Jesus as your Savior.
Sharing in the Lord's Supper is reserved for sinners who have been born again and are pursuing a life of repentance. We believe that while all are sinners in need of Christ's saving grace, it is inappropriate for unrepentant sinners to share in communion. If a person persists in publicly known, unrepentant sin, that person may not eat the Lord's Supper.
We require participants be a church member prior to partaking in communion. We do so to stress the importance of church membership and protect the sanctity of the symbolic act.
You will find what, “We believe,” and the church covenant posted on our website.
About The Lord’s Supper
1 Corinthians 11:23-34 (NKJV)
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.33 Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.
